How to enable Speak Selection in iOS 15

The Speak Selection tool allows you to select texts from your screen and have them read aloud.

Go to your Home screen and select Settings.
Scroll through settings and Tap Accessibility.
Tap Spoken Content.
Tap the toggle next to Speak Selection.

How to use Speak Selection to read out loud in iOS 15

Select the text you want to be read aloud.
Click and hold the text you want to be read aloud, then drag the highlight to surround all of the text if it's not all already highlighted.
When the menu pops up, tap on Speak as shown and voila iPhone will start reading selection for you.
You have option to pause by Tapping Pause as shown

Speak Screen will read the entire screen to you if you have trouble reading iBooks on your phone. Here's how to enable Speak Screen in iOS 15:

Go to your Home screen and select Settings.
Scroll through settings and Tap Accessibility.
Tap Spoken Content.
Tap the toggle next to Speak Screen.

Navigate to the screen which you want iPhone read out loud to you.
From the top of the screen, swipe down with two fingers.
Manage playback speed, pause and play, skip forward, and play/pause by tapping the controls.

On the iPhone or iPad, the speech controller is a small control panel that you can use in order to control speech playback. You can play, pause, skip forward or backwards, and change the speed of speech.

Navigate to settings using home screen.

Speech Controller let you configure 3 actions

First One what you want to do on Long Press options provided are – Tap None, Read All Content, or Speak on Touch as per your choice.
Second One what you want to do on Tap None, Read All Content, or Speak on Touch as per your choice.options provided are – Tap None, Read All Content, or Speak on Touch as per your choice.

Note you can't choose same choice for Double Tap and Long press

Third action is Idle Opacity which let you control opacity of speech controller when not in use.

How to enable spoken text for highlighted content in iPhone iOS 15

Highlight Content will highlight along with the content as it is read out to you.
Open Settings from your Home screen.
Tap Accessibility.
Tap Spoken Content.
Tap Highlight Content.
By pressing the switch, it will turn on.
Choose between Words, Sentences, and Words and Sentences when speaking highlighted content.
Choose between Underline or Background Color to designate the style of sentence highlight if you selected Sentences or Words and Sentences from the previous menu.
Tap Word Color
Choose a color for the highlighted words.
Tap Back.
Tap Sentence Color
Choose a color for the highlighted sentences.

How to manage typing feedback settings in iPhone iOS 15

Go to your Home screen and select Settings.
Tap Accessibility.
Tap Spoken Content.
Tap Typing Feedback.
Tap the toggle to om to hear character and Character hint feedback.
You can adjust how long character voice feedback is delayed after you enter a character by tapping the + and – buttons.
You can turn on Speak Words by tapping the toggle button to on next to the Speak Words option.
Turn on the Speak Auto-text switch to hear auto-corrections and auto-capitalization as you type.
Turn on the Hold-to-Speak Predictions toggle switch to on to make it possible to speak typing predictions when you tap and hold them.

How to change the voice of spoken content in iPhone iOS 15

Go to your Home screen and select Settings.
Tap Accessibility.
Tap Spoken Content.
Tap the voices.
Choose the language you want to use.
Download a voice by tapping the download button or the voice.
Tap a voice that you've downloaded.
Tap Voice name downloaded to hear the enhanced version of the downloaded voice, which is generally louder.
Change spoken content voice by tapping a voice, then tap Voice Name downloaded

How to set the speaking rate in spoken text in iPhone iOS 15

Navigate to settings using home screen.
Tap Accessibility.
Tap Spoken Content.
The speaking rate can be decreased or increased by dragging the slider left or right. The left is slower; the right is faster.

How to add pronunciations in iPhone iOS 15

Go to your Home screen and select Settings.
Tap Accessibility.
Tap Spoken Content.
Tap the Pronunciation.
Click the + button at the top right of your screen.
If you would like a pronunciation of a phrase, type it in.
To speak it aloud, either type in the pronunciation substitution or tap the dictation button. Saying it aloud is easier.
For a list of available languages, tap Languages.
Choose a voice to hear what it sounds like when spoken.
To have the word pronounced the same way regardless of the case used, turn the switch next to Ignore case to the green 'on' position.
For your pronunciations to be used across all apps, toggle the switch next to Apply to all apps to the green 'on' position.
You can preview the pronunciation by tapping the Play button at the top right of your screen.
